This is not to be missed. If you can’t make it to a festival this year, have some carnival fun instead. Starting at 3pm and carrying on until the early hours, you’re guarenteed a day and night that you won’t forget.
Not only is the amazingly talented DJ Yoda going to be joing in the fun, you’ll also get the pleasure of DJ Format, and more local artists such as Gin & Juice vs Moschino Hoe, Versace Hottie, ReWind Takeover, Fia Sessions and Brotherhood Soundsystem. Is that enough to tickle your fancy?
Duncan Beiny aka DJ Yoda is no ordinary scratch DJ. His How To Cut & Paste show saw a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”. From his hip-hop roots, DJ Yoda has evolved in the past ten years, using his turntable skills and diverse influences as varied as Funk, B-more, Kuduro, Reggae, Drum & Bass and even Swing and Country & Western to make the most amazing quirky and original sounds of music.
He’s most likely to be found cutting the Indiana Jones theme with Dubstep or The Muppet Theme with MIA. In his sets you are likely to see him using film, TV, Youtube samples and visuals, making it the most phenomonal and unique experience.
DJ format’s debut album “Music For The Mature B-Boy” was one huge success story of 2003. An album of soulful, funky Hip Hop loaded with beats and lyrics, made it a massive hit. The new album “Statement Of Intent” sees collaborations with Edan, Mr Lif and Sureshot La Rock. Format also shows his varied musical tastes way beyond Hip Hop, exploring Jazz and Blues, and offering more of his own trademark instrumentals in what is, his best work yet.
Bring on the summer! Let’s start as we mean to go on! Get your tickets now.
